It is not uncommon for new clients to come to us feeling overwhelmed. It can be challenging to ask for or accept help, even under the best of circumstances. We understand, and we are here for you! We work with people from the very beginning of the fact-finding process of researching home care through the start of home care services and beyond. Activities of daily living that may have once been routine can become complicated, especially when people experience mobility or memory challenges. The following services are just a few examples of those our caregivers provide and are among the most impactful:
The COVID-19 pandemic has had many devastating outcomes. Life as we knew it bid us farewell in March 2020, and social activities many of our clients took part in came to a halt. Social isolation can leave many people feeling anxious, depressed, and lonely. Our caregivers provide much-needed companionship during this time, which improves the overall well-being of our clients.
- Light Housekeeping
People experiencing mobility challenges, such as leaning over and balancing, can make certain activities, such as laundry, impossible. Our caregivers can take over this time-consuming and evergreen task as part of our services. We can also change bed linens (which is necessary when experiencing incontinence), vacuum, sanitize restrooms, and clean the kitchen after meal preparation. We help our clients feel safe and secure at home when they cannot manage everything without help.
- Medication Reminders
Many of our clients take life-saving medications. People experiencing memory issues or cognitive challenges can forget to take these medications, potentially resulting in a medical emergency. Our caregivers become familiar with which medications must be taken and when, and we help our clients stay on track with their health. We have clients who take necessary medications multiple times throughout the day, and we make sure that nothing slips through the cracks.
Whether experiencing mobility or memory issues, or other challenges that render driving unsafe, our caregivers can either drive their vehicle or that of our client’s, should the client choose to do so, to get the client where they need to need to be. We can drive to and from doctors’ appointments, help with running errands, and transport clients to activities. Staying on schedule with doctors’ appointments and other activities allows clients to manage their medical and other needs appropriately.
- Checking Vitals
We train our caregivers to check vitals to determine whether or not the client needs medical attention. These checks enable our caregivers to be proactive for the client.. We have had instances where our caregivers have checked a client’s blood pressure, and based on an elevated result, the client was taken to the Emergency Room and received necessary medical attention. Checking vitals also is an important data point for a client’s healthcare provider. We monitor for any sudden or marked changes following changes to medications, etc.
The above are examples of different services that we provide; all of our clients receive an individualized assessment and care plan by a Registered Nurse. Our services are tailored to our clients’ needs, and we have the expertise and training to identify what will positively impact our clients’ well-being.
